JATON Operetta RS2000P True Balanced PRE-AMP

EXCITE YOUR SENSES!

FRONT

The Operetta's pre-amplifiers follow the same design concept of the Operetta amplifiers. Its well design circuitry coupled with fanatical attention to every single detail of the signal path. These pre-amps will work together with Operetta amps and give you an even better performance compared to other pre-amplifiers.Jaton's Operetta pre-amps and amps honor the classic tube and solid-state amplifiers of a generation ago. Rather than hyping those elegant designs with watts and burdening them with mass, Jaton has chosen instead to deliver power with finesse. Begin with the basic AP2140A amp , upgrade it with a RC2000 pre-amp. Or even to have the AP2300AX amp. Then you’ll live in a whole new musical world.

Enjoythemusic review:

Jaton? Never heard of them. Didn't see them at AXPONA. Review their equipment? Sure. Founded in 1983 in Taiwan, Jaton Corporation relocated to the United States in 1988. They make computer graphics boards, the kind that insert into computers like a card. The company decided to expand into more product lines around 1998 when they moved out of the US to Thailand. Perhaps they foresaw the day when tablet PCs overtake desktops and the market for graphics cards. Their Thailand factory started making powered 5.1 speaker systems around 2001. Jaton is pronounced as two syllables, with the accent on the first syllable ('je,ton). In Chinese, Jaton means is that they will arrive at the destination first if they walk faster than others do. Jaton Operetta RC2000PIt took Jaton four years to design and manufacture a complete stereo chain with player, amplifiers and loudspeaker. The RC2000P model is analog input only. The signal ratios of the bi-amp stereo outputs are 1:1. You do not need to use a splitter cable to divide the signal to 50% of original. Mid-high and low sections can have 100% signals. The Operetta A2300AX power amplifier has 300 Class A watts into 4 Ohms! The Operetta has clean, simple fit and finish. It is just another black box, with a shining blue read-out panel and sapphire eye. The tonality of the Jaton pre-amplifier was very good, balanced and not noticeably striking or lacking. The only solid-state, and the least expensive, unit in the shoot-out, the Operetta provided details and felt solid. It has no colorations or bloom of the tube units. It had no noticeable anomalies. Though these features make tube amplifiers less accurate, it also makes solid-state ones less engaging. Reviewers had a hard time describing the sound of the Jaton pre-amplifier. The word is neutral. The Jaton is a Swiss amplifier of neutrality. Compared to the tube pre-amplifiers in this brief shoot-out, the Operetta not only did not embarrass itself; it held its own. Nobody said anything seriously critical of it. Read that line again! Don't make light of it. Sometimes that is all that some tweaking audiophiles are looking for: a unit that gets out of the way of the music. Everybody was very impressed with its performance. I double and tripled checked the price on several occasions. Many listeners thought it was a very good value for the money. If you do not want your pre-amplifier to contribute to your stereo's sound, this is a unit to consider. The stand-by knob on the front panel acts like a quick power switch; one touch and the warmed-up unit is ready to rock.

The final assembly and testing is in their Milpitas, California headquarters.

Through the centuries, great music and great musical performances have come from unexpected places as different as the refined concert halls of Vienna, the backwoods cabins of Appalachia and the gritty alleys of New Orleans. Great music doesn't come from technology, privilege or status. Great music comes from the heart.

This, above all, is the driving idea at the heart of our new Operetta A2300 power amplifier. Rated at a full 300 watts per channel of Class A power, it is indeed AP2300A(X), Jaton Operetta Power Amplifiers Introduction Specification Dealer's Comments You only need to hear it once to understand Jaton has vaporized all barriers between you and musical performance. You hear the weeping deep in the Stradivarian wood of the first violin, just as Beethoven himself heard it in his mind's ear. Even a humble backing bass solo in a jazz quartet suddenly transcends to prove there is genius in a three-note phrase.

Rise above the noise to hear what we're hearing. Transcend with the genius of Jaton. driving, delivering the finesse and control that music demands, but this is not just about power. It's about music. Like a great musical instrument, it soars above the cacophony of glitz, glitter and hype of our gadget-choked world. Rather, Jaton has wisely chosen to impeccably execute an elegant design that is homage to first principals.

The final assembly and testing is in their Milpitas, California headquarters.

MSB ANALOG DAC

(sitting atop Power Base)

The Most Technologically Advanced DAC in the World!

REVIEW: STEREOPHILE - April, 2014

"Conclusion and Au Revoir"
"I started to write up more musical examples, but realized I was just repeating myself. Every comparison with the DACs mentioned above, and a handful of others that passed through my system in the past several months, yielded the same results: a more focused sound with the MSB, coupled with the ability to match the best qualities of any other DAC in the hot seat. There was simply more there. I was sad to have to send another MSB DAC to JA's Brooklyn lab for testing. It notched my system up to a place where almost all digital sources had an organic, natural presence without sacrificing the accuracy and detail present in the best recordings - no small feat."

Jon Iverson , Reviewer,
Stereophile, April 2014

REVIEW: THE ABSOLUTE SOUND

"On Alex de Grassi's album ... the cut 'Shenandoah' exhibited exceptionally detailed guitar sound. The Analog DAC really showed how realistic a recording of solo guitar engineer Cookie Marenco had captured.

Piano recordings were spectacular. On Thomas Gunther's performance of Schubert's Piano Sonata in A minor, the Analog DAC reproduced the piano's complete harmonic structure with a combination of delicacy and explosive power rarely heard on recordings. THe sense of the hammers striking the piano's strings was captured superbly. It's odd that I noticed this particular detail on several piano recordings.

... Pigeon's voice in particular, had a "reach-out-and-touch-it" quality, creating the illusion of someone standing in front of me singing. Instrumental accompaniment was equally detailed, especially the stand-up bass. "

Vade Forrester , Reviewer,
The Absolute Sound, January 2014

REVIEW: AUDIOSTREAM

"It not only reproduces music with excellent detail and focus, but is one of the most natural sounding DACs I have ever heard. This DAC purges the digital artifacts that create listening fatigue and loss of interest in the music. While auditioning the Analog DAC, I also listened to other DACs at my house. In each case, I missed the beautiful bloom and ease that the Analog DAC puts out in spades. The soundstage was one of the best I have heard as was the ability of this DAC to unravel complex musical passages. Dynamic changes were well reproduced with a variety of music. I think that those of you that enjoy acoustic music, be it classical, jazz, or vocal, will simply love The Analog DAC. I know that I did." Steven Plaskin

ENTER THE "DOME OF SOUND"!

"Hear Everything" - Anthony Gallo

GALLO STRADAS and TR-3 subwoofer

ANTHONY GALLO ACOUSTICS' new Strada 2s and 300-watt powered TR-3D subwoofer

played great sounds, with only modest electronics and was one of the best sounds at CES. The sound is holographic and very detailed; think the best electrostats or ribbons plus imaging plus efficiency(monster amps not required).

Gallo loudspeakers really open up their soundstage and dynamics when used with Jaton C200P pre-amplifier and the AP2300ax power amplifier. The recommended DAC is MSBs new Analogue DAC. On certain good recordings they can produce an encapusalating"dome of sound". No other speaker, no matter the cost, can do this. This is quite the opposite of either Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound" where the sound is saturated and ear is confused, nor what most fast speakers produce: dual mono sound (the maggies require an electronically derived and amplified center channel panel to get some basic imaging).

The Gallo Strada2s give a highly defined sound in front of you: 180 degrees left to right and 90 degrees from floor to ceiling. This true reference set-up includes Analysis-Plus interconnects and speaker cables and a pair of TBI Emperor DPM-8 subwoofers.

REVIEW: Secrets of Home Theater and Hi-Fidelity"

"Listening to the Strada 2s is an experience almost like listening to very high quality headphones when it comes to detail. They are superior to every other sub-$10k speaker I have heard in this respect..." Chris Groppi

INTRODUCING TBI'S DIRECT PORT MODULATION SUBWOOFERS:

TBI DPM-8

EMPEROR DPM-8P

MUSICAL! POWERFUL! AUTHORATIVE! DYNAMIC!

PERFECT INTERGATION WITH MAIN SPEAKERS

COMPLETLY DISAPPEARS

NO ROOM CORRECTION or EQ NEEDED

NO ROOM ACOUSTIC TREATMENTS NEEDED

"Direct Port Modulation is the final nail in the coffin for sub design. I have been using these subs (including a 9" cube) for over a year. They work in every situation I've tried so far for music and home theater. They have made rooms with poor bass response work like there is no problem." - Jan Plummer, TBI

The subwoofer as it is known today has been a rather disconcerting product for the high-end audio community. The very word conjures rather unpleasant thoughts of out of place boom that we audiophiles put up with in our video system. Well the controversy over what a subwoofer
should do is over. Size is important so we are starting this series small in dimensions but wonderful as low frequency support for any audio-video system.

The new Emperor DPM 8 represents an audio technological tour de force for bass reproduction. It is a small .84 cu ft internal volume cube subwoofer that efficiently produces bass frequencies from below 20Hz to above 200Hz. The driver used is low mass aluminum operating in a balanced pressure environment with 5mm maximum required travel. It typically requires less than 10 w for the DPM-8 to support full range material operating at 90db room SPL.

While the EMP-8P may look somewhat familiar it is based on totally new subwoofer design principles. DPM (Direct Port Modulation) is the first departure from introducing the driver diaphragm energy directly into the enclosure volume. The DPM-8 puts the ports ahead of the box to not only eliminate boxy sound but also allow all bass frequencies to be output with equal efficiency and low distortion. An internal manifold maintains the port first in the pressure sequence
then allows the box to do its magic. An internal acoustic transmission line maintains the standing waves at the port throat. It is an acoustic engine, which incorporates clever turbo bass extension and capable of launching broadband output as stable standing waves. There is no static frequency dominating the enclosures internal pressure. The ports launch critically damped standing waves with the drivers’ motion minimal throughout its bandwidth. The room is ignored as a source of signal
modulation as the Acoustic Intake Regulator (AIR) isolates the driver. This serves to both isolate the room while dynamically adjusting the drivers' acoustic impedance to comply with its ambient environment.

The DPM-8 doesn't unload quickly in the infrasonic range and will load the room in this range when information is present making ambience an important contributor to realism when its there. (request graphs)

There are a few secrets here as well as patented generic acoustic processes that are now available in the Emperor DPM-8. The Emperor series of audiophile subwoofer promises to bring joy when you turn your system on and play your music or settle for something on the videophile side of your system. The DPM-8 really shows its capability reproducing effects naturally without boom (unless its in the source) at levels you will love.

Patents issued and pending

One or two of DPM-8P subs would nicly compliment high-end monitors such as KEF LS50, Epos Elan 10 or 15, Gallo Strada, Gallo Classico CL-2, Golden Ear Aon, Adam MK3, etc. making for a relative inexpensive complete high-end audiophile loudspeaker system.
